Deputies investigating reported home invasion

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Columbus County deputies are investigating a reported home invasion.

Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, four masked gunman entered a home off of Seven Creeks Highway in the Pireway Community and robbed a couple.

According to victim Kenneth Rivenbark, he was in the kitchen and his wife was getting their son out of the bathtub when the four gunmen entered the house.

Rivenbark says upon seeing the suspects, he picked up a chair, and one of the armed men said, “If you swing, we'll blow your brains out.”

The men then made him get on the floor and held a gun to his back before proceeding to take his pregnant wife and baby to a bedroom, which they ransacked.

Besides getting away with two computers and two guns, Rivenbark said the men got away with his truck keys and cell phone.

He believes the only thing that saved his family was when he told the gunmen that his brother, who's a highway patrolman, was on his way over for dinner. After that, the men left.

Since it was dark, Rivenbark says he didn't see the vehicle the men drove away in.
