Tourism up in Columbus County | Arts & Culture

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Even though Columbus County does not have any beaches or amusement parks like some of its neighboring counties, that's not stopping people from visiting.

According to members of the county's tourism bureau, tourism was up nearly 9 percent in 2011 .

The bureau's executive director says most of the tourists stop in Columbus County on their way to beaches in Brunswick County or Myrtle Beach.

County officials also say that people are visiting Lake Waccamaw, rivers, and camp grounds.
