COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Commissioners in Columbus County approved a hospital lease expansion for Columbus Regional Healthcare System.
The county owns the hospital building and administrators with Columbus Regional are leasing the building.
The lease expires in 2016, but commissioners approved to extend it for 30 more years, so hospital officials can do more than $20 million worth of upgrades to the facility.
Part of the lease renewal allows commissioners to add another commissioner to the hospital board. Additionally, the hospital will work with the county help get a wellness center.
