COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Southeastern Community College’s Workforce and Community Development Division will offer several continuing education classes and seminars in the coming weeks. To pre-register or for more information, call (910) 642-7141, ext. 296, 397 or 425.
Financial assistance with registration fees and books to gain new employment-related skills may be available through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and other funding sources. To see if they qualify, students should contact the Columbus County JobLink Career Center immediately at (910) 642-7141, ext. 261 or by visiting the Center in A-Building on the SCC campus.
Notary Public
Notary Public has been rescheduled and will be held Wednesday, July 18, and Thursday, July 19, 5:30-9:30 p.m. in T-Building, room 120. The class covers qualifications and requirements for the office, fees, general powers and limitations, oaths, depositions, and papers notarized in error. Students are required to have a high school or GED diploma to attend class. A valid picture ID is required at registration. The course fee is $65. The textbook, “Notary Public Guidebook for N.C.,” can be purchased onsite for a fee of $27 plus tax.
Business Plan Basics
Business Plan Basics will be held Monday, July 23, 6-9 p.m. in T-Building, room 122. This free seminar will explain how to create a good business plan and why it is vital to the business start-up process.
Motor Vehicle Dealer License Renewal
Motor Vehicle Dealer License Renewal will be held Tuesday, July 24, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in T-Building, room 120. Dealers who attend this six-hour course will earn a certificate of completion that must be submitted to DMV when renewing a license. The cost is $65 plus $13 for class materials and lunch.
N.C. Vehicle Safety Inspection
N.C. Vehicle Safety Inspection is a two-part course to be held Tuesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 26, 6-10 p.m. in T-Building, room 111. This eight-hour course will certify vehicle safety inspectors in accordance with the N.C. Department of Transportation laws. The course fee is $65 plus $5 class materials.
Grant Writing 101
Grant Writing 101, a free seminar, will be held Tuesday, July 24, 6-9 p.m. in T-Building, room 122. The seminar is designed to encourage and build confidence for current and potential nonprofit leaders. Topics covered will include determining project need, researching information, formatting the required documentation and seeking opportunities for funding.
