Fellowship alliance sponsors MLK march and program | Community Spirit

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The nation will honor civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. today - the same day as it celebrates the inauguration of the first black president to his second term.

The Chadbourn Christian Fellowship Alliance sponsored an event Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The march began at 9:00 at the Zion Wall Freewill Baptist Church in Chadbourn. The program started immediately after the march.

The church was packed with town officials and residents celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Children reenacted events leading up to King's death.

Gwendolyn Smith, of Mt. Nebo Mssionary Baptist Church in Wilmington, was the program's guest speaker.
