COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT/WMBF) - Authorities say two separate Friday shootings that took place in Columbus County and Loris, SC are related.

They say Timothy Goins killed a man in Loris, then shot his estranged girlfriend in the face, Latisha Smith, in Columbus County, before shooting himself.

Goins lived in Loris.

The victim of the Loris shooting has been identified as 46-year-old Dan Rouse, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler. Rouse was from the Flag Patch community near Loris, where he was killed, Deputy Fowler said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Rouse on Saturday morning.

Investigators say the Columbus County shooting happened in the Green Acres community, which is east of Tabor City.

Smith is expected to survive.
