Residents will have to wait for lower property taxes

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Columbus County residents will have to wait a little longer before county commissioners decide to lower property taxes.

Right now, Columbus County has some of the highest property taxes in our area.

Commissioners thought they would be able to lower the taxes because the county’s fund balance is more than $23 million.  Commissioners, however, will have to postpone their discussion because the county is up for a tax reevaluation this year.

Despite having one of the largest fund balance they’ve had in years, commissioners plan to still be conservative with spending.
