TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) – It's official. The sale of mixed drinks will not be allowed in Tabor City.
Residents had the chance to vote on a referendum of the sales of mixed drinks during the municipal elections earlier this month.
The referendum failed by just one vote. Totals show 133 people were in favor of the change but 134 were against it.
There is a stipulation that says referendums for ABC items are only allowed on the ballot in odd years, so it'll be 2015 before Tabor City voters can decide this issue again.
The sale of mixed beverage referendum passed in both Fair Bluff and Chadbourn.
